My interest in radio goes back to about 1955 when I was able to listen to my brother's Short Wave Radio at home. My father had purchased a ex-military radio called an R208. My brother listened to morse code on the amateur bands while I started listening to broadcast stations such as Radio China, Radio Moscow, Voice of America and most of the European Countries International Services. Much later I took my Amateur Radio exams and obtained the callsign G8ZIG. I progressed later and obtained my full licence with the callsign G4MHJ.

My current interest is digital radio called D-Star which allows speaking worldwide via a portable transceiver. I have a logbook online which shows the stations I have recently spoken to.
